June Term Committee - Student Representative Application

Committee Description
The June Term Committee is charged with the oversight of Newark Academy’s June Term curriculum. Chaired by the June Term Coordinator and composed of faculty and students (three juniors), the Committee’s basic responsibilities are as follows:

  • General oversight of the June Term for the school community

  • Consideration of June Term course proposals from faculty, offering guidance throughout the process

  • Ensuring that June Term courses follow established aims and guidelines, including budgeting, final student assessment/product and course evaluation

  • Assisting Coordinator with course publication and course registration processes, as needed

  • Assessing the success and effectiveness of each June Term course

Membership Commitment
The June Term Committee meets on an ad hoc basis, but most frequently during the fall semester to consider proposals for new courses. The meetings are usually held at 2:30pm. Members are expected to attend all of the meetings. Although there may be times when members will be asked to undertake some modest research between meetings, the main responsibility of committee members is to be reflective members of the school community and to participate in the meetings.
